On the 4th of August 2020, a disastrous explosion rocked the Lebanese capital of Beirut, leaving over 100 people dead and injuring over 4,000 people. The explosion and shockwaves were reportedly felt as far away as Cyprus – more than 200km away. A state of emergency has been declared, with over 300,000 now homeless and in urgent need of life-saving aid.
Lebanon’s economy was already on the brink of collapse from the effects of the ongoing financial crisis and the strain of the coronavirus lockdown.
