PRESS RELEASES
We express our relief at the announcement of a temporary halt in the continuous bombardment of Gaza, coupled with the safe release of civilian hostages and detained children.
However, we must emphasise that a brief pause is insufficient to put an end to the ongoing bloodshed and address the humanitarian crisis. Its value diminishes if hostilities resume shortly after. The international community must utilise this limited timeframe to actively pursue a permanent ceasefire and bring about an end to the siege.
Our concern deepens as reports indicate an escalation in bombing just before the truce takes effect, resulting in even further civilian casualties. While full details of the agreement are pending confirmation, initial reports suggest it falls short of meeting the necessary requirements. Disturbingly, there are indications that bombing may persist in northern Gaza during this period, posing a significant threat to more civilians. Furthermore, the anticipated aid entering Gaza in the coming days is woefully inadequate given the enormity of the crisis.
Gaza, devastated by Israel’s intense bombing and siege, stands in ruins, with nearly half of all homes damaged or destroyed, along with hundreds of schools and health facilities.
Starvation looms as limited food access and destroyed bakeries further exacerbate the situation. Only nine out of Gaza’s 33 hospitals are operational, grappling with shortages of fuel and basic medical supplies.
Over 1.7 million people are now displaced, residing in overcrowded shelters where diseases spread rapidly, and basic living conditions are dire. A long-term ceasefire is essential for their safe return, but many have no homes left to return to.
We will remains steadfast in our commitment to providing crucial assistance to the people of Gaza through our local partners and dedicated relief teams on the ground. Our collective efforts enable the delivery of essential aid, sourced both locally within Gaza and through aid trucks from Egypt.
We implore you to join us in making a positive impact on the lives of the people of Gaza. Your contributions, no matter the size, play a crucial role in providing relief and hope during these challenging times.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it the most.
